I dread the “leaving days” the most.
Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a reader. A voracious reader. Someone who reads a little bit (and more often, a lot) of everything. Someone who thinks that the answer to practically anything can be found in a well-chosen book.
When people find out about our extreme coast-to-coast commuting relationship, we typically get one of two reactions:
- Disbelief: “Are you crazy? Why don’t you just move there?“
- Empathy: “I know a couple who did this. The economy sucks. It must be hard.“

I get asked this … a lot.
It seems like a no-brainer, doesn’t it? Chris has a good job there, after all. Lovely weather year-round. Near the ocean. Laid-back lifestyle. Lots of jobs for IT and tech types. And wine country! Let’s not forget about that. I must be INSANE not to want to move the family there. Right?
